Transportation Law – 2020

Created in 2020 by the ALFA International Transportation Practice Group members, this 50-state compendium is an important resource provided to ALFAI Transportation Practice Group members and participants.

The purpose of the Compendium is to provide a comprehensive source of information for ALFAI clients concerning relevant transportation law issues across the nation. The Compendium contains a quick reference for 13 common topics relating to transportation litigation. Some of these topics include:

  • An update on current black box technology and other sources of technological evidence that can be used in evaluating accidents and legal issues surrounding the use of this technology
  • Legal issues involving the handling of post-accident claims
  • Legal considerations when defending an action involving truck drivers who may be considered Independent Contractors, Borrowed Servants or Additional Insureds
  • Defenses against expert testimony involving mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)
  • Regulations governing contribution claims and whether the doctrine of joint and several liability applies
  • Admissibility of evidence at trial governing medical damages and what plaintiff is permitted to recover

This data was intentionally designed only to be a general reference guide, and not an exhaustive analysis of each state’s law on these subjects. Should you have questions, please contact a member of theĀ ALFA International Transportation Practice Group, who can provide an in-depth analysis.
