Morrison Mahoney LLP is proud to be recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as an “Empowering Women” firm in the publication’s 2024 awards. Such an award highlights Morrison Mahoney’s strong commitment to supporting and elevating women attorneys. Per Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, firms represented on the list demonstrate a commitment to hiring and promoting women, providing mentoring and opportunities for professional advancement to women attorneys, and establishing programs and policies to help women attorneys thrive professionally.

“Morrison Mahoney is grateful to be recognized for providing an empowering and supportive professional setting for our women attorneys to thrive and grow,” said Morrison Mahoney Managing Partner, Grace Garcia. “We will honor this designation as we continue working to uplift our amazing women attorneys.”

Morrison Mahoney was recognized with the following feature:

As immediate past president of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Morrison Mahoney Managing Partner Grace V.B. Garcia is just one of the many female attorneys at the firm to have earned an impressive reputation in the legal community.

Three other women at Morrison Mahoney currently serve on the state bar’s Civil Litigation and Workers’ Compensation Section Councils, while a fourth sits on the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association Board. The organization’s culture of equity is also expressed through its Women’s Initiative Group, which was founded in 2006 by Garcia and now has a thriving mentorship program. It also hosts an array of guest speakers, not only to provide professional support, but also to enhance personal development and promote communication among women. There is even an overnight gathering for female partners from all offices to come together in an informal setting.

For many years, Morrison Mahoney participated in the Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program (DAPP), which paired a female law student with the firm as a summer intern. The firm also remains as a sponsor of the Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association annual gala and the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys’ Annual Ida B. Wells Celebration.

Morrison Mahoney, which has 27 female partners, created an in-house DEI program in 2021 to work in conjunction with its human resources department. Additionally, efforts of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee include a celebration of Women’s History Month and, for the last three years, special biographies, circulated to all employees, spotlighting 11 pioneering women who have demonstrated leadership at the firm.
