GENERAL
Founded in l996, the ALFA International Insurance Law Practice Group (the "Group") is a very active component of the ALFA International organization. Over 50 ALFA International law firms participate in this Group with additional firms joining every year. Regional and national insurance companies, third-party administrators, and self-insured businesses are able to exploit the value of a well-organized national network of insurance counsel. Initially organized to serve the life and health segment, the Group has fully expanded into property and casualty businesses.

ACTIVITIES
The Group is involved with a major ALFA International seminar every year and has sponsored tele-seminars during the last three years in order to reach many lawyers and clients who are unable to attend lengthy, off-site programs. A speakers’ bureau places insurance attorneys on the programs of other organizations. Many lawyers within the Group maintain membership and actively participate in related professional organizations, including the Defense Research Institute, the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, the Life Insurance Counsel of America, and the ABA Section on Tort and Insurance Law.
PUBLICATIONS
The Group publishes a comprehensive coursebook for each of its seminars. In addition, a 50-state Insurance Law Compendium is published for both life/health and property/casualty areas, summarizing key insurance laws and recent developments for each state. A Member Firm Directory is also printed listing all ALFA International firms and lawyers active in the Group. Please contact Katie Garcia (kgarcia@alfainternational.com) for a hard copy of any of the Insurance Practice Group publications.
